We would like to remind everyone of the important requirement under the NHBRC Act relating to the withdrawal of home builder registrations.

When a home builder is found to have contravened the Act, the Disciplinary Committee (DC) may impose one of the following penalties:

    1. A formal warning
    2. A fine of up to R25,000 per charge
    3. Withdrawal of the home builder’s registration (deregistration)

If a home builder is deregistered, the NHBRC is legally required to publish the builder’s particulars in the Government Gazette. This ensures transparency, strengthens consumer protection, and upholds the integrity of the home-building industry.

    Operational Process
Once a deregistration has been approved:
    • The status is activated on SAP, immediately preventing any renewals or home enrolments.
    • The builder’s status is updated on the Builder Verification Portal to provide accurate information to the public and stakeholders.
    • The details are published in the Government Gazette, as required by law.

    Improved Access to Information
To ensure better visibility and ease of access, information on deregistered home builders will now be shared quarterly through:
    • Internal Communications
    • The NHBRC Intranet
    • The NHBRC Website
    • The NHBRC TV Screens

The lists of home builders deregistered for the 2025/26 financial year are attached for your reference.
